Performed by dance artist Cindy Cummings, musician Sharon Murphy & piper Ronan Browne“Walking Wisdom Woodquay” is a creative project bringing together Dance, Architecture and Community Participation. Dance Movement Artist Bernadette Divilly, together with the Woodquay community and ‘Design with Communities’, an initiative by Galway City Architects Office, investigates and maps the Woodquay area of Galway City using the wisdom of the body. The intention is to enable the local community to engage with urban design through arts engagement.
|Bernadette Divilly is a Choreographer, Psychotherapist with an MA in Somatic Psychology & Dance Movement Therapy. She has an extensive background in Health Education and Dance. Witness Me Walk was published in the Journal of the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists 2013. Bernadette has been recognised by IACAT with a Certificate of Achievement for pioneering Dance Movement Therapy in Ireland. Bernadette has studied choreographic composition with Prof. Barbara Dilley whose teaching emphasizes “embodied awareness” through dance/movement studies, creative compositional processes and the disciplines of meditation. Applied to Investigation is Public Shaming and reversing shame and reclaiming the intelligence of the body through public art making.|
